North Central Austin Information & Resources

The southern most area of Austin North Central began development in the 1940s with Crestview, Skyview and later Allandale subdivisons. Now many of the houses are being renovated or raized and rebuilt. Newer subdivisions further north include Wells Branch, Bratton Park, Scofield Farms, Preston Oaks, Gracy Woods, Gracy Farms, Northwood, Hidden Estates, and Tanglewild Estates. Homes range from 35 year-old ranch style homes starting at 1,400 square feet to new, 3,000+ square feet Tuscan-style. Major highways in this area include Mopac (Loop 1), IH 35, and Highway 45 (tollway).

The Crestview, Highland, Howard Lane and Kramer commuter stops on the Capitol Metro Rail line will serve this area. Sheffield Northwest Park and Pool are located in central Allandale, offering swimming, baseball, tennis, picnicking and more. Shopping and restaurants abound along Anderson Lane and Burnet Road.

The Domain, a large retail, office and housing community, including Neiman Marcus, Macy's and many upscale restaurants and boutique shops are here. The area includes the Northridge Campus of Austin Community College, Texas Culinary Academy, and The University of Texas at Austin J.J. Pickle Research Campus. Corporate sites include IBM, National Instruments and Freescale, among others.

North Central Austin Schools

Austin Independent School District (AISD) public schools include:
Elementary schools: Barrington, Brentwood, Brown, Cook, Gullett, McBee, Pillow, Reilly, Walnut Creek, and Wooten.
Middle schools: Burnet, Lamar, and Webb.
High schools: McCallum. McCallum is home to the Fine Arts Academy.
